The Sanojen Salo – festival of word art and poetry will be celebrated from November 8th to 16th, 2024. This year’s theme “feel” will be explored in a multidisciplinary and multisensory way, and of course, in a versatile manner!

The festival ends on Saturday, November 16th at 6 pm at the Kulttuuritalo Villi’s poetry club, where poems intertwine with dark-toned, melodic, and folk/blues-influenced music. The main performer is the band Sudenkorentokuiskaaja & Korpinheimo, which draws inspiration from nature, mythology, and mysticism, combining poetry and music in a new way.

Sudenkorentokuiskaaja, also known as Veera Ruohomäki, is a word and visual artist whose work is multidisciplinary. She has held several solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions since 2004. Veera’s poetry book, illustrated with her own photographs, titled “Minä odotan myrskyä” (I’m Waiting for the Storm), was published in 2013. She has performed at various celebrations, poetry events, and book fairs. Poetry and the power of words are at the core of Veera’s expression.

Behind Korpinheimo are the musicians Karoliina Laakso (from the cooperative Onnenjuuri) and Timo Kosonen from Yläne. Karoliina & Timo have been performing together in various lineups for over ten years, especially in the field of roots music. Korpinheimo’s music is their own production, and Karoliina is also making a new venture into Finnish-language song lyrics. Karoliina handles vocals, keyboards, and percussion, while Timo plays guitars and bass.
