The gallery space of the Salon taitokeskus begins the exhibition year with the ITE artist, punk musician, and environmentalist Greger Grönholm (born in 1970) from Karjaa. Grönholm’s abundant and thought-provoking works are a continuation of the passion for drawing that has existed since childhood and an innate desire to live on the margins.

In addition to his manic creation of visual art, Grönholm’s everyday life also includes being a member of four different bands, with the punk band Loine being the longest-lasting. During the summers, Grönholm works as a conservationist in the Southern Finland section of the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation.

“The winding road is my path. Sometimes accidents happen on that road, and the price of that path is accepting a modest life. However, I couldn’t live any other way,” Grönholm happily states.

This exhibition, now opening, is Grönholm’s first in Salo and the entire Varsinais-Suomi region. Previously, his art has mainly been seen in the Southern Finland area.
“It’s great to have Greger and, above all, his powerful and colorful works in Salo. It’s especially nice that at the same time, the latest ITE art mapping project of the Rural Education Association is nearing completion, which will showcase artists from the Uusimaa region,” says Tiina Aalto, the Executive Director of Taito Varsinais-Suomi.
