Contrary to the earlier announcement, the children’s Saturday performance of Näkkäri on May 16th will be changed. Instead of the theater performance and workshop of Utu and Myrsky in the Milky Way, there will be a shadow theater performance called Aidantakainen Atlas (Atlas behind the fence) and a workshop.

Atlas behind the fence tells a story of a journey into the forest and back. Through shadow images, speech, and objects, the performance brings a piece of the wonders of the forest into everyday life, allowing space for the viewer’s mind and eyes to embark on their own personal discoveries. The performance is based on personal observations of nature, forest observation, and aims to convey to both young and old viewers the experience of calmness and bring out the wonders of everyday observations.

The creator of the performance, Anna Uschanov, is a puppet theater and visual artist from Turku. In her work, she considers the joy of searching and finding, and conveying it to the audience, as the most important.

Atlas behind the fence is suitable for the whole family and its duration is 20 minutes. After the performance, a small workshop will be held in the same space, where interested participants can create their own shadow theater character. The workshop lasts for 20 minutes.

In the workshop, a colorful shadow theater character, a forest inhabitant bringing light and colors, will be created! Once the puppet is ready, you can try it out in the shadow theater!

After the workshop, you can take your own shadow theater character home and continue playing with it at home, for example, using a flashlight.
