In the summer of 2025, boating enthusiasts and classic wooden boat lovers will gather for the very first Mathildedal Wooden Boat Festival! This unique event will take over Mathildan Marina’s guest harbor on June 27–28, 2025, offering a stunning display of traditional wooden boats, expert talks, and immersive program highlights.
Seaside Atmosphere and a Historic Setting
The village of Mathildedal Ironworks is an experience in itself – and during the festival weekend, its guest harbor will be filled with beautifully maintained wooden boats. The event is a wonderful opportunity to explore traditional boating, the craftsmanship behind boat restoration, and to engage in conversations with boat owners and classic vessel experts.
Throughout the weekend, you’ll also enjoy maritime-themed entertainment, live music, and guided historical tours with actors bringing the village’s fascinating past to life. The area’s charming artisan shops, restaurants, and accommodation options ensure a delightful weekend for the whole family.

- Thu 7 PM – Karaoke at the Marina
- Fri–Sat 2 PM – Wooden Boat Parade at Mathildan Marina
- Fri–Sat – Expert lectures on classic boats and their maintenance
- Fri–Sat 11 AM–7 PM – Festival Market
- Fri–Sat – Accordionist performing in the harbor
- Fri 5 PM – Kapteeni Vahto & Luntreijarit performing at the harbor
- Sat 5 PM – Southwest Skiffle Boys performing at the harbor
- Fri–Sat 1 PM – Dramatic guided history tour of the ironworks village (ticketed)
The event is organized by the entrepreneurs of Mathildedal and classic boat expert Jani Vahto. He is known as the owner of the beautifully restored wooden boat Bonito. Vahto also runs one of the largest classic boating accounts on Instagram: Classic Boats Finland.
The event is proudly supported by the City of Salo and Lounaismaan Osuuspankki.
