Baby Friday: Closeby and Babies’ Rhythm Bath -workshops

The language of the workshop is Finnish, but it is also suitable for those with beginning language skills. There is barrier-free access to the venue through the backyard of Ylhäistentie 2 and the main lobby of the building. (Parking spaces for disabled people in the backyard.) The workshops requires paid admission tickets, but a Näkkäri card can be borrowed from the Salo Main Library, which allows two people to enter the event free of charge.

At 10 am Closeby Workshop for Tiny Ones

The “Closeby” workshop for very small babies reminds us that babies can and should be taken care of by singing! The baby care tricks of great-grandmothers were based on centuries of experience, and modern science can now explain why things work. Come and learn chest tapping, bath time games, the basics of baby opera, and the Magician hand dances!

Recommended age 2-6 months. Duration approx. 30 min.

At 11 am Babies’ Rhythm Bath

Babies have spent the whole pregnancy in a belly disco, and a steady rhythm resembling a heartbeat always resonates with babies. In the Rhythm Bath workshop, little ones get to try out rattles and drums made from different materials from around the world, and with the assistance of parents, play and move together.

Recommended age 6-18 months. Duration approx. 30 min.

The workshops are led by FM ethnomusicologist and children’s culture consultant Henna Leisiö.

The theater classroom is located in the premises of the Salon Adult Education Center at Ylhäistentie 2, entrance through the main door of the building. The event series is organized by the Cultural Services of the City of Salo.

Tickets/workshop:

basic ticket (adult + baby) 10 euros
additional person (over 3 years old) 10 euros
children under 3 years old and assistants free of charge.

NOTE! The maximum audience capacity for the workshop is 30 people/15 baby-adult pairs. Due to the limited audience capacity, we recommend purchasing or reserving tickets through the online store.

During Baby Fridays, you can also use the Näkkäri card borrowed from the information point at Salon Main Library, granting free entry for two people.

Tickets are also sold at the events, if the event is not fully booked. Ticket sales start 30 minutes before the event with card payment or E-pass.
