Jazz Suomi 100; Mäkynen/Mannila/Koivistoinen/Antila/Mäensivu @ SaloJazz Live

Suomen Jazzliitto has put together, in honor of Jazz Suomi 100 anniversary, a supergroup for a celebratory tour with drummer and bandleader Teppo Mäkynen. The group, consisting of representatives from different generations of musicians, incorporates elements of electronic music, r’n’b, and rap into their expression, presenting new arrangements of Finnish jazz classics. The focus of the concert is on the joy of making and experiencing music, fueled by the band’s energetic expression.

Drummer Teppo Mäkynen is one of the most respected jazz musicians in Finland. He is known for his fearless and visionary ability to move between different musical styles, reaching a wide audience with his music. The lineup also includes the living legend of Finnish jazz, saxophonist Eero Koivistoinen, the internationally acclaimed bassist Kaisa Mäensivu, and emerging stars singer-keyboardist Maja Mannila and vibraphonist Mikko Antila.
