Erika Malkki: Flora Humanum

Drawing from the diversity of life’s rhythms, the through-composed Flora Humanum is a soft and wordless, rich and intense solo performance that lands in public urban space. Artist Erika Malkki‘s piece will be seen at Salon Market Square on the Night of the Arts on August 28, 2025 at 6:35 PM.
A piece reaching for flourishing combines physical expression, contemporary puppet theater, and contemporary dance. Its symbolic storytelling peels layers around the self and guides towards the core – a seed reaching for light. The piece reflects on the connection between humans and other species, the cycle of life and its cyclicity, rebirth, and the environment, naturally linking to Baltic Sea Day themes, celebrated simultaneously with the Night of the Arts.
